Session Start: Thu Jul 30 18:46:10 2009 Session Ident: #castlevania * Logging for #castlevania started * Olivia finishes her 'heads towards Nyyx' plan and looks down at her, with her laying on the bedroll. She offers a slight smile and says, quietly enough, "Big thoughts?" * Nyyx glances up. "No, not particularly. Just going through the day's events. Did you talk to the skeleton?" * Olivia sits down onto her knees and nods. "I did. He was chatty enough. His common was a little... antique, but nothing I couldn't understand." * Nyyx sits up and gathers herself into an upright, crosslegged position. She nods. "Did you learn anything useful?" * Olivia starts, as Nyyx sits up, "No need to..." and then she trails off and lets her. "Ah, yes. He died of a sudden case of Peraclypse." The skeleton? I guess I'm not surprised. What happened? * Olivia smiles a little. "I didn't try to get details... the dead tend not to want to waste time." The smile slips to a grin. "There's irony there, yes." * Nyyx smiles a bit. "So Peraclypse destroyed their civilization? Any mention of Hassad, by any chance, or other ruins like that one?" * Olivia stretches her neck, nnhing a moment, then adds, "I... did ask him of where more of his people might be found, and if he knew anything of the creator god, and got answers to both." She looks directly at Nyyx and adds, "He wasn't much of a rambler... I had to ask fairly specifically." * Nyyx nods and waits for Olivia to continue. A city on an underground river south-southeast, and... pointing us directly at One Card and a Red Bird again. * Olivia chuckles and half-smiles. "Respectively, of course." * Nyyx taps her jaw idly. "Why am I not surprised?" I haven't quite wrapped my mind around all of it yet. Are One Card and Red Bird separate entities, or one and the same? * Olivia nods and replies, "Because we know who killed her, dear. And I think the same... the skeleton wasn't speaking in full sentences." If a magical red bird shows up, however, I suppose we'll find out. * Nyyx nods. "We know how to summon it now, too, don't we?" The symbol, yes. * Olivia half-smiles before teasing, "So eager to make more deals with gods of unknown power, Nyyx?" * Nyyx laughs. "No. No, not really, especially after today. But, I suppose it doesn't hurt to have the option if it comes down to that." * Nyyx rubs at her face. "I'd give Adam a talking to about that stunt he pulled earlier, but I'm not his mother." * Olivia chuckles and replies, "Come now, didn't you do some crazy things when you were younger? I did melt my bones a bit not too long ago." A slight smile. "Or did you mean to give me one too?" * Nyyx smiles, and a brief opaqueness flashes in her expression before it warms into a more natural smile. "Well, yes, I'd have to say so, though I probably don't remember all of them, either." But give you a talking to? No, I'm not your mother either. * Nyyx laughs again. * Olivia chuckles faintly and replies, "No, I'm afraid not." She glances over towards Adam a moment, then says, "I'm not sure it would take. There's something about the boy." She looks back at Nyyx. "So it's likely for the best. That way he'll never have to wonder about your exciting past and charge you with hypocrisy." Children, mmm? * Nyyx grins and glances over in the same direction, watching Adam for a moment. "He's got something, certainly. I don't know many people who could've survived an encounter with that thing, let alone a kid his age." * Olivia is silent a moment, then replies, with a wider smile, "True, but before today, I doubt you've seen anyone move that quickly through a space that small. Every day's full of surprises, mmm?" * Nyyx turns her gaze back onto Olivia. "That was quite the trick. To tell the truth, I don't know whether I should be impressed or disturbed." * Olivia laughs faintly and says, "Ah, well. The church kept me well trained... back when it mattered. Knowledge's in more than books, you know." You never know when you're going to need to escape from a tight spot. You learned that in -church-? Maybe I should have paid more attention to my lessons. * Nyyx grins again. * Olivia laughs and replies, with a wider grin, "Well, I could show you a lesson or two if you had the time. Knowledge doesn't have to be jealous." Hm. I might take you up on that. I don't know how well the armor would take to tight places, though. * Olivia keeps smiling for a moment, then goes, "Aah, right, your invisible armor." Then she chuckles and replies, "I do have to say it helps to not be completely covered in metal, but you could put it in a bag and drag it behind you." * Nyyx smiles. "I'm game. It could come in handy sometime." * Olivia grins a bit and says, lowly, "Maybe another time, unless you wanted to do jointwork? All I've got is rope, and the poor boy's mind might melt if he looks over." She keeps the grin on her face as she rolls her neck to one side again and rubs one of her shoulders. * Nyyx chuckles and nods in agreement. "Another time is fine. What's jointwork?" * Olivia mms and replies, "Finding the ways to twist your joints so as to get by. Popping bones out of their sockets. Breaking the rules of your body." Mm. It doesn't sound the most pleasant, but why not? * Olivia chuckles faintly. "Such a workaholic." You can't blame me for being curious about how you did what you did. * Olivia smiles faintly and says, "Well, that's only a part of it. The grease helped." * Nyyx smiles, too. "How did -that- not melt the boy's mind?" * Olivia grins back. "Well, it -was- dark... he didn't have as good an angle on it as you." * Olivia adds, "I've never seen anyone with my talent pull off that tight a squeeze, so all I have to go on is your word that it was impressive." * Nyyx bursts out laughing. "Even without being a teenaged boy, I'd have to say it was pretty interesting." * Olivia chuckles a bit herself and raises an eyebrow, still with a grin as she replies lowly, "Teenage boy interesting, or just seasoned adventurer interesting?" * Nyyx looks amused. "I'm not really sure I know, myself. It was sort of like a cross between fascinating and utterly disconcerting." * Olivia 's grin fades a bit as she looks aside a moment, then she nods slightly nad looks back to her. "Makes sense. Like I said... never seen someone with my talents before either." She chuckles a bit to herself, then adds, "Doing the impossible's part of what you have to do when you're a lone agent most of the time." * Nyyx nods. "What did you do before we met?" * Olivia mms and then replies, "Whatever the church.. the contact needed. I had interacted with the cult of the Damacine golem and Wes Jas... dozens of other little things." It's been interesting to get to spend a while with a group of people. Flexes muscles I hadn't used for a while. * Nyyx smiles. "It is." She pauses. "I hope I'm not prying too much, but in the time we've all known each other, I realized we haven't really gotten to know one another very much." * Olivia is silent a moment, then smiles faintly and replies, "I've got no problem geting to know you better. It's not something I get to do commonly... and you're a unique woman yourself." She chuckles and leans back slightly, adding, "And you tolerate a sly implication or two with grace." * Nyyx shrugs and smiles. "I try." * Olivia shifts her legs to lay out sideways, then asks, "So does your response mean you were a bit of a lone wolf yourself before this?" * Nyyx nods. "I had to be. I hate to say it, but it was really only recently that I sort of got my, ah, lineage under control." * Olivia licks her lips and nods slowly, before saying, "Admirably, as far as I can tell." I've been lucky. * Olivia arches an eyebrow. "Lucky? Not that I hold anything but the highest respect for luck, but it's been a long time to be lucky." * Nyyx smiles. "You could be right. I have to be honest and say that I'm somewhat surprised and relieved that I haven't had the urge to eat anyone recently." She laughs. * Olivia chuckles, then smiles slightly and replies, "Well, from a personal perspective, that seems a good thing." A pause, then, "No idea what changed, mmm?" I think so too. And, no, I'm not sure. Maybe I've just gotten better at it with age. I haven't had a bad day since Kronnenburg, anyway. * Olivia mms faintly, then sits more upright and stretches, replying, "Well, if that changes, I'll do my best to help." * Nyyx smiles. "Thanks, I appreciate it." * Olivia smiles a bit wider and says, "Who else would I get to verbally spar with if some fool townsfolk tried to burn you at the stake?" She rolls her neck and then adds, "So, to the southeast, you think... holding the Red Card in reserve?" * Nyyx nods. "I'd say so." * Olivia nods back and smiles slightly. "Sounds a plan."
