* Logging for #castlevania started
<Holmes> [The intrepid party continues its desperate battle against
the undead hordes beneath the crypts of Lifebreak.  Can they
prevail?]
<Holmes> [The party is approaching a three-tiered structure at one
end of an underground quarry.  Skip is on the third tier and Nyyx is
in front of the first tier in combat with four humanoid figures with
pistols and a large robed creature.  The party is under sniper fire.]
<Holmes> [Olivia has just approached the first tier under cover of
invisibility and everyone else is roughly forty feet from the first
tier in a cloud of fog.]
<GodlessKillingMachine> ( Except Biff, who had just come out. Well, a
giant fucking lizard with heug claws came out, anyway. )
* Skip wastes no time with the empty ledge. With a few long strides,
he reaches a wall and begins climbing up, up, up, and to the left.
<Holmes> [The robed figure continues its relentless assault, striking
Nyyx twice and leaving her reeling.]
* Nyyx bleeds even more profusely.
* Olivia 's voice comes out of thin air next to Nyyx's ear, saying
lowly in a slightly amused tone, "You just keep needing my healing
touch, Nyyx. Boccob aid us," before she feels Olivia's hand on the
back of her head, which causes positive energy to wash over her in
two waves.
<Holmes> [Another shot rings out from above, pitting the earth near
Biff's taloned feet.]
<Holmes> [One of the zombies turns and fires on Biff.  At the same
moment, Biff divides into six identical Biffs and two wink out of
existence just as fast.]
* GodlessKillingMachine lets out a bellowing laugh.
<Holmes> [Theodore looks up, narrows his eyes and sends a fireball
skyward.  The blast powders the stone above and sends a wave of bass
through the entire chamber.  A smoking figure can be seen skidding to
a stop along the rock face a dozen feet below the impact site.]
* Nyyx straightens as Olivia knits up her wounds, and she spits out a
last mouthful of blood. She grins with red-stained teeth and looks
her robed attacker coldly in the eye before blurring into motion and
leaving two deep cuts in the thing's chest.
<Holmes> [As Nyyx buffets the creature with a rain of deadly strikes,
the creature's cowl falls away.  The creature's head is that of a
child.  The flesh is replaced with metal starting at the back of the
neck and shoulders.  Steel fangs jut from its mouth and its breath
erupts as steam.  Its eyes are feral.]
* Nyyx starts, but just slightly. She's apparently seen too many evil
un-children in her day.
<Holmes> [A zombie turns to Nyyx and opens fire, hitting her once
with a grazing shot.]
* Charlotte rushes and fires her arrow twice at the gunner, landing a
shot
<Holmes> [A zomibe opens up on Charlotte, but she is much too quick
for even bullets.]
* GodlessKillingMachine dashes across the quarry floor, leaps, and
comes down with one massive foreclaw onto the robed dude. "This is
awesome!"
<Holmes> [Another zombie opens fire on Charlotte, missing horribly.]
* Skip skitters across the wall toward the smoking gunman. "Gotcha!"
Skip quick draws one handaxe and lands a wild swing.
<Holmes> [A figure slips through the fog behind Theodore and slips a
metal collar around his neck, twisting the end to wring to try to
crush Theodore's windpipe.]
<Holmes> [The robed figure furiously slashes at Nyyx but the fighter
blocks and dodges from harm.]
<Holmes> [The sniper tries to climb the cliff face to a safe
location, but Skip handily cuts him down.  The corpse falls the
several dozen feet to lie in a heap in the quarry pit.]
<Holmes> [One of the gunners fires on the crowd of Biffs, reducing it
by two.]
<Holmes> [Theodore focuses his will as the blood collects behind his
eyes and mouths a single word.  The figure disappears into his
clothes with a squawk.]
<Holmes> [Nyyx retaliates against the monster with a child's face,
striking it once forcefully.]
<Holmes> [One of the zombies fires on Biff again, killing a fake.]
<GodlessKillingMachine> kekekekekeke
* Charlotte rushes for cover,firinga pair ofarrows at the gunners
* Charlotte lands both of them, which explode into bursts of acid in
very vital points for undead. But the piercing damage alone is enough
to do the job
<Holmes> [Two gunners open fire on Nyyx, pelting her with rounds.]
* GodlessKillingMachine drops one massive claw onto Nyyx's shoulder
and her image shifts and wavers like a mirage, before solidifying a
couple feet away.
* Olivia 's invisibility fades as she suddenly appears from behind
the child in the robe, a slight grimace on her face as she sinks a
glowing dagger deep into the cyborg's back, adding a twist of her arm
and a secondary push once it's there.
<Holmes> [Steam erupts from the hunched creature and it screams as
falls to its knees.  The child's eyes slide up to look at Nyyx and
Biff.  Its arms droop to the floor and it is still.]
* Skip begins the descent back to the battle below.
<Holmes> [The robed figure shakes once and falls face-first to the
floor.]
<Holmes> [A chicken pulls itself out of the figure's abandoned robes
and runs from Theodore, who hits it with a stick.]
* Theodore fires a fireball at 2 of the gunners, killing one.
* Nyyx eyes the last gunner and charges straight for him. She springs
into the air and her sword glints once in the green light as she
lands beside the gunner's body, which abruptly bursts into a tangled
mess of butchered meat and metal.
* Charlotte runs and fires another pair of arrows, killing the other
gunner
<Nyyx> (( Uh, change that to the next to last gunner. ))
* GodlessKillingMachine looks around for more enemies, sees none, and
chases the yummy chicken!
* Nyyx cracks her neck, and a few bullets pop out and jingle against
the floor.
* GodlessKillingMachine scoops up the chicken in his jaws and turns
to face Theo, letting him see the chicken "behind bars", as it were.
<Holmes> [The bird is making no end of noise.]
<GodlessKillingMachine> kekekekeke
* Olivia still has that grimace on her face. "The indiscriminate
nature of the undead," she murmurs.
* GodlessKillingMachine spits out the chicken into Theo's arms and
shrinks back into his own form.
<Holmes> [The robed figure continues to shake and rattle on the
ground.]
<GodlessKillingMachine> That chicken is my DINNER.
* GodlessKillingMachine is now known as Biff
<Biff> Also, what's with the dude we just kacked, toots? 
<Biff> He's awfully restless for a dead guy.
* Nyyx turns back toward the robed thing. "I don't know, but--" She
makes a leap for the robed heap of junk and cleanly takes its head
right off as she lands. The shaking stops. "--why do they always have
to be children?"
<Charlotte> I have no idea... poor kids.
* Nyyx nudges the head away from the body with her boot. "It's not a
child anymore. I'm just tired of them using children's bodies in an
attempt to appeal to our emotions." She grimaces with distaste.
* Olivia shakes her head as she looks at it and replies, "Undeath,
like death, simply... doesn't care." Her dagger disappears, and then
she glances around, rubbing her neck.
<Nyyx> What was with the chicken, by the way?
* Nyyx also takes this time to surveil the area for any exits or
other points of interest.
* Skip jumps down off the wall and joins his comrades. "Theo, is that
a new pet? You seem to have a way of collecting strange creatures."
<Holmes> [The only paths are the way the party came or through the
door Nyyx destroyed.]
<Charlotte> Yeah
* Biff paws through the equipment left behind by the chicken.
* Nyyx helps to salvage any materials and useful items left by
recently re-deceased.
* Charlotte speaks a short prayer to Pelor
* Olivia help with scavenging. It's fun and educational.
<Holmes> [The part collects up several guns, a rifle, some ammunition
and a chicken.  The corpses likely have valuable metal in them too.]
<Holmes> [In the assassin's robe's, the party finds two potions of
cat's grace, two heal moderate wounds potions and six +1 daggers.]
* Olivia sets her face into a neutral expression, once the easy work
is done, and gathers the metal, too, taking the opportunity to make
notes, mental and otherwise.
* Olivia starts digging through the child with daggers with a
surgeon's detachment. Until, at some point, robot birds in the body!
Several of them!
* Nyyx glances over Olivia's shoulder. "Are those...birds?"
* Olivia nods slightly and starts to stab the robo-birds to death
before they do something stupid like try to kill her. "They look it."
<Charlotte> It... yeah.
<Holmes> [Olivia makes short work of the mechanized avians.]
<Nyyx> That's what happened after Gabriel died, too. Clever
contraptions, whatever they are.
* Olivia continues her work and murmurs, "The grim question is
whether they waited until the child was completely dead."
<Nyyx> They didn't, in Gabriel's case.
* Nyyx frowns. "The armlet was like an addictive mechanical
parasite."
* Olivia nods slightly and doesn't reply as she continues to pick
pick pick, dumping segments of metal out on the ground for future
having. At least, until it is time to move again.
* Nyyx leaves the birds to Olivia and takes a peek beyond the crushed
door.
<Nyyx> It looks like this is the only way to go.
* Charlotte nods
<Charlotte> Let's go.
* Charlotte waves everoyne on
* Nyyx heads in.
* Biff hops up on Nyyx's shoulder.
* Olivia stands up slowly, leaving her dagger in the body. It
disappears as she walks after the group.
<Skip> Let's hope they don't have anymore guns.
<Holmes> [END OF SESSION.]
