Session Start: Sat Jul 12 19:07:52 2008 Session Ident: #castlevania * Logging for #castlevania started [The intrepid party continues its battle at the bottom of the temple ruins.] [Gregor chants briefly and tries to touch Nyyx, but her counterattack disrupts his spell.] [The giant in the center of the room continues to howl, straining against its restraints and tearing flesh from its limbs. A flock of stirges erupts from its bulging stomach.] Oh now THAT's just wrong. [The stirges fan out and stab at the party, hitting Nyyx, Skip, Theodore and Biff's ride.] that is not good [The party can hear noise from the top of the stairs.] * Theodore casts haste on the party * Biff splits into half a dozen copies, one of which disappears as a stirge flies through it, and all the copies rear back, shooting still more force missiles from feathery white wings. * Charlotte darts back, tryiing to put down some distance. She fires a pair of arrows. One misses, but the other digs into Gregor hard. * Olivia remains invisible, but she can be heard magically chanting for a few moments, nearer to one of the walls, before a large bunch of sticky webs bursts into place at the entrance to the room to hopefully block off Simon's reinforcements. * Nyyx 's blade goes snicker-snack - rather quickly, too, thanks to Theodore's Haste. [Gregor fades into mist.] * Skip moves away from the mist formerly known as Gregor and heads for the stairs. At the bottom, he climbs the surrounding wall, clings onto the ceiling, and waits for his unsuspecting prey. [The giant lashes out as Gregor fades, breaking a chain loose and sending it careening through the room.] [Nyyx and Theodore are struck harse blows by the chain.] [The mist that was Gregor floats toward the ceiling and through a crack in the rock surface, disappearing.] CRAP [A gout of flame shoots down from the entrance and scorches the rock walls and webbing. Whatever is coming down the stairs is large.] * Theodore casts enlarge person on Nyyx * Theodore also takes a 5 foot step back Be back in a bit, guys! * Biff says a single word and disappears. In reality, he has shifted to the reality next door and is chasing gregor's fleeing gas ball through the cracks in the walls. * Charlotte darts back and fires an arrow at the giant, but somehow misses. * Olivia smiles invisibly as she continues casting spells nobody can see, this time causing a glop of greasy goop to coat the floor of the entryway. * Nyyx takes to the giant's neck with her sword as she stands on the thing's shoulder, chopping deeply into its base once, then twice. [A large scarlet scaled lizard slides prone to the bottom of the stairs. Its red plumage is covered in grease.] [The beast turns and snaps at Biff prisoner. Estivan dodges out of the way.] [The giant's blood flows from the wound in its neck as it turns to bite Nyyx.] [The head misses.] [Biff continues to follow Gregor through the rock.] * Theodore casts Scorching Ray at the giant, landing all three rays * Skip falls straight down onto the monster, axe glistening in the torchlight. The swing misses, and Skip pounces away. * Charlotte focuses on the giant and darts to the side, firing off another arrow. It tears through him * Olivia stays invisible, but her fingers lightly touch Theodore as she brushes by him and lays on some hands, saying quietly, "Don't worry, just me." [Nyyx continues to chop away at the giant undead foul thing, landing three solid hits.] [Gregor emerges from the rock into a small cloister and flows into a stone coffin. Biff follows into the room.] [The lizard stands on its four legs with a struggle as Skip takes advantage and lands a deep cut.] [The creature lashes out at Skip but misses.] [The chained creature lashes out and strikes Skip with a chain. Ichor continues to flow from the beast.] * Theodore casts scorching ray landing three rays on the zombie [The giant creature shudders once and stops moving.] * Skip misses. * Biff is, unknown to anybody downstairs, even now looking at Gregor's coffin from the inside, and seeing that the vampire has not yet solidified, he ducks back outside and hides from the vampire's keen senses. * Charlotte runs to try to find a better position and fires a shot at the lizard. It misses its mark * Olivia appears, near Theodore, her free hand coming down as she has a wand pointed right at it... and then shoots two rapid fire bolts of acid out of the wand towards the red lizardy beast with a slight smile on her face... but one goes wide. The other gets a solid acidy hit, though! * Nyyx takes a leap from the giant zombie's shoulder, making for the lizard, but her swing cuts through air and misses the lizard entirely.. [The lizard rears back and breathes a gout of flame.] * Theodore dies * Charlotte is caught in the burst despite her best efforts * Olivia manages to break her wand-pointing drama-pose and jump to plaster herself against a wall to evade some of the damage, and then she sees Theo drop and her smile quickly shifts into a deep frown. * Skip disappears and begins creeping along the wall. [As Biff finishes the spell, he hears a lock click and the lid of the coffin begin to slide up and other on hinges. As it dones, a spell goes off harmlessly and a second causes an eruption of force.] * Biff gets a blast of force right in his face and yowls plaintively. * Biff gets over it quickly with a few curses, though, and takes a look into the coffin anyway. [The force strike destroys most of the items and furniture in the cloister. As the chest opens, Biff sees that the 'lid' was just a stone plate set on top of a seamless stone rectangular prism. A single inch-wide hole is set in the lid and top of the stone coffin. ] Oh come on, you have GOT to be kidding me. * Biff facepaws. * Charlotte stands her ground and fires a trio of arrows at the lizard. Only one of them manages to penetrate its hide. * Olivia bounces off the wall, touching Theodore via grabbing his wrist and pulling upward as her hand glows with healing enegry, saying, "Get up!" She then whirls on the dragon and, with almost supernatural speed, her wand spits out three nice big orbs of acid towards the lizard, two of which hit it. She says, as she does that, "C'mon, stop making this hard, scaly." * Nyyx comes at the lizard in a flurry of swordwork, but she doesn't land a single blow. [The lizard lashes out at Nyyx, killing her handily.] * Nyyx collapses without a sound. * Theodore casts magic missile at the lizard killing it. * Theodore mutters "bastard" under his breath. [The beast slumps to the ground with a hiss and immediately begins to turn to ash.] [Behind the creature, Simon is surprised to be seen.] * Skip watches as Simon creeps up next to him. Invisible to his prey, Skip prepares, then explodes in a flurry of swings, all of which connect with Simon. * Olivia exhales slowly and looks around the room before asking, annoyed, "Anything ELSE going to try to kill us here?" She glances at Theodore, not dead, and then walks over to the raised but -1 HP Nyyx and one of her hands glows. She crouches down next to her and then touches her face. "Get up, hon." * Biff teleports back in, goddamn soaking wet. HOLY SHIT. I AM AWESOME. BOW DOWN BEFORE MY FELINE POWER SOMEBODY TOWEL ME OFF. Oh goddess, somebody towel me off, please. * Biff sounds like he's about to cry. * Skip surveys the room. "What a day." (I'd reply, but I'm getting Nyyx off the ground!) * Nyyx gets up stiffly. "Thanks. What happened?" * Biff shakes himself, but due to not being a dog, is not very good at it. * Charlotte walks over to Biff and dries him off. What happened? * Biff tries to calm down. Gregor's as dead as I could make him. You got to his coffin? Why are you wet? * Olivia half-smiles "Well, you got torn up by a..." she trails off when Biff trumps her teasing comment. Because I teleported both of us to the bottom of the fastest river I could remember. ... Oooh. Nice thinking! * Nyyx blinks a few times, then sits down laughing. Well, that would do it. He dissolved into some sort of black ichor, I figure that's probably normal for superpowerful vampire types. He's a smart vampire, but not smart enough to outdo a Mouser * Nyyx wrinkles her brow. "That doesn't sound normal for vampires to me." ... no? By the way, did I die? * Olivia stands up from next to her. "A little bit, yes." Dunno, toots. I was sorta distracted by being soaking goddamn wet. * Skip nods, "Yes. But I didn't see any black ichor, and your stomach didn't explode." * Skip starts searching Simon, "So you should be all right." Oh. Well. Thanks for bringing me back. Is Theo all right? * Olivia holds her hand down to help Nyyx up. "A little bit, yes." * Nyyx takes the offered hand and stands up. "Thanks, Olivia." * Nyyx rubs the back of her head. "I think I'm still a bit stunned." Is ther eanything left here that needs killing? * Olivia puts her wand away and nods, patting her on the shoulder before she starts to search the room too. That Gregor guy, he's a real piece of work, lemme tell you. He took me to my goddamn limit, no joke. I think so. I need a change of drawers though. * Nyyx looks a bit dazed, but she helps search the place, too. Oh man, now's my favorite part of a fight. * Biff walks around with Nyyx, taking the measure of this place. The bandaging of wounds? Nope. Looting. [As the party cleans up, they notice that the giant appears to stay dead. The stench is terrible. Estivan seems very interested in watching for a while yet.] Who killed mister moral equivalency? Ask your jungle gnome. Oh, it was me. I oughta known. Noice cuts, very artistic and such. I think I shall patronise your fine business in the future. [The lizard turns completely to ash and rests with Simon's grease stained corpse at the bottom of the slope. The rest of the complex waits to be searched and looted.] * Olivia comments idly as she checks around the room, lifting the giant's chain a bit to check under it and such, "If anyone needs to feel a bit more of Boccob's light before they feel like walking out of here, I'm not quite out." Amarette: "Where did you kill Gregor?" Bottom of the river we crossed about ten miles away from here. We crossed it on the way, remember? What kind of black ichor were you talking about here? Just soggy vampire dust, or worse? Amarette: "Of course. I need to go back there. We need to know what he was up to here." Dunno, hon, it was kinda hard to see, even with goggles. I can show ya the place when we cross it again. * Nyyx nods. If he comes back, I'll just have to kack him again, and again, until it sticks. * Nyyx smiles. "I hope I can help next time." I'll see what I can do. I like to do right by my people. * Nyyx chuckles. But congratulations. Hopefully there won't be a next time for him. Hopefully... the black ichor is a bit worrying though Never herad of anything like that before. Well, we'll burn that bridge when we come to it. * Nyyx nods. Right now, all I want is someplace warm to sleep. I can second that. It turns out that death can be pretty exhausting. * Biff hops back up into the arms of his pet. I hope to never find out. * Olivia grosna a bit and says, "Oh, don't remind me that I want a real bed. I'd been trying to forget." Well, we all earned some rest.
