Session Start: Sat Jan 19 17:53:27 2008 Session Ident: #castlevania [The intrepid party is at the bottom of the pit, trying to save innocents and deal with the undead.] * Nyyx stands at the butt-end of one of the passages branching from the main chamber and has placed herself between the hostile corpses and Roland. * Charlotte has dragged the poor half-buried guy to safety? Aah, Lady Natalia... Yes, Roland? Allow me to make you some charging room. * Skip focuses his attention on the tunnel entrance used by Nyyx and Roland, "We need to insure a safe exit for our comrades. If nothing else, keep this tunnel open!" Skip points at the figures emerging from the hole to the west. Why, thank you. * Roland steps forward, raises his hands to the Eye of Boccob on his forehead, and unleashes a burst of holy power. * Roland annihilates three undead in a puff of magic, and badly wounds three others. * Nyyx takes full advantage of cleared space and dashes around the corner, swinging her blade in a lateral arc that cuts through two bodies, cleanly bisecting one and nearly bisecting the other. One of Nyyx's victims rakes her with its claws as she runs past, leaving a gash. [More of the monsters advance out of the caves toward the militia. The battle begins in earnest around the eagles. The two nearest Nyyx swing at her, slicing and clawing with abandon.] [His Emminent Remains starts to yell up at the top of the pit, his eyes aglow.] * Nyyx fells the next zombie with a well-aimed slice and follows that up with a chop that lops the arms off the next. * Roland steps up next to Nyyx and makes with the healing hands. * Skip hides along the while and waits for one of the creatures to lurk out of the tunnel entrance. Once its back is fully exposed, Skip jumps out of the darkness and chops down into the villain's shoulders. You should be more careful, Lady Natalia. Even I only have so much healing magic. I'll try. Thanks, Roland. How many of these things are there, anyway? I don't know, I can't see out of this tunnel yet. I guess we'll find out soon enough. * Charlotte fires a couple of arrows at the nearby miniion.s The first shot misses, but the second lands true Random Fighter: "Alright, Clerics! Get ready!" [The fighters fall back into a ring around the eagles and let the monsters come to them. One of the stragglers is nearly felled on his way back.] [The monsters stagger forward, eager to strike.] [The creatures swarm and the chamber is filled with the screams of battle.] His Emminent Remains: "HA! It's here! It's through the gap!" [The top of the pit has begun to glow a brilliant red.] * Nyyx crushes the armless zombie in front of her with her sword hilt and moves quickly for the center chamber. * Skip steps forward and continues his attack on the walking dead. A swift slice hits its target. * Charlotte reaches for another two arrows and fires them. One stirkes a grey figure, but does not kill it. the other arrow is lost to the mists [The fight continues to rage in the center of the chamber. The screams of the living and groans of the dead fill the room. One of the eagles panics and lifts off of the ground, knocking nearby fighters to the ground.] [Spells flash and clerics chant as a concerted turning attempt destroys several of the beasts. The fighters are not without injuries and losses, however.] [As the eagle rises, the red light arcs down, filling the room. It dims for a second. Then it returns as the eagle, now stricken and bubbling as its tissues erupt from under its skin falls to the ground, crushing a cleric.] [The source of the light, a narrow staff, flies to the hand of His Emminent Remains.] * Nyyx comes flying out of the cave entrance, leaping over Roland's shoulder and landing to cleave Skip's zombie clean in two. "That help?" * Roland runs out into the center of the crater and unleashes an immense burst of positive energy, clearing half the battlefield. Behold, the power of knowledge. * Skip finds the nearest target and resumes the onslaught of tiny, tiny axes. Oh what mighty courage, but little damage! * Charlotte reaches for another two arrows and fires them into the two zombies. One is pulped, but the other remains standing. [As the militia continues to chop into the monsters, more appear from the cave entrances. To make matters worse, His Emminent Remains swings the staff toward the ground with both hands and it seemingly stuck, begins to pull himself from the wall.] [A section of thick bone welded to his spine begins to erupt from a gap in the wall behind him like a grisly cable. With a tug, the tip of skeletal jaws appear around the cord of bone, complete with foot long fangs.] His Emminent Remains: "Looks like I hooked a big one. Natalia, are you a fisherman like your grandparents?" [You'd swear he's enjoying all of this even with the cord linked into his spine.] [The cavern begins to shake violently as he pulls forward.] * Nyyx eyes His Eminent Remains with what could be horror, but it's hard to tell. * Charlotte aims her bow at the beast.
