Session Start: Sat Nov 03 17:11:34 2007 Session Ident: #castlevania [The intrepid party jumps from rooftop to rooftop as the streets below fill with the sounds of crashing stone and flying debris.] * Nyyx speeds across rooftops at over twice her ordinary movement rate, effortlessly crossing rooftops as she makes for the tower in the center of town. * Biff speeds ahead towards the tower, clearing gaps with (dare I say it?) catlike agility. (Oh yes, I went there.) * Skip follows right behind Nyyx, leaping effortlessly from rooftop to rooftop. * Charlotte flies Theodore? Maybe I can give you a hand. What did you have in mind? * Nyyx heaves the wizard onto her back and keeps running. Sorry, Theo. I hope you don't mind. I'd rather the elementals didn't catch up with us, though. * Theodore thinks that this reminds him of his first marriage * Skip tried not to laugh at the sight as he continues leaping across the sky. [The party continues across the rooftops, nimbly skipping from shingle to shingle as they begin to leave the elementals in the distance. The tower looms.] [About twenty seconds later, Nyyx hears someone yell in the building under her feet as she leaps across.] * Theodore casts haste while being carried from rooftop to rooftop [Forty seconds later, Theodore casts haste on the party while riding Nyyx.] * Nyyx notes the building the yell came from and keeps running. [The party has run for another thirty seconds when another wave of gargoyles erupt from the top of the tower.] * Biff whispers back across the Message, "Incoming! They're too spread out, I can't get them this time." * Nyyx sets Theodore down gently and draws her sword. * Skip stops near Nyyx and Theo and draws his hand axes. * Charlotte pulls out her bow * Charlotte darts around, firing arrows. * Charlotte does not dart around. She just fires a pair of arrows. * Charlotte fires a third because she's been made fast. * Charlotte hurts one of them quite a bit as the arrows manage to piece it and deploy their acidic bounty. [The gargoyles enter a death dive and drop 120' in unison.] * Theodore casts ice storm into the center of the gargoyles * Charlotte reaches for more arrows and takes aim at the wounded. * Charlotte lands each of them in a gargoyle each. One is taken down, and the otehrs arne't looking so hot. * Skip steps forward about ten feet and gets down in a defensive position. [The gargoyles screech like gulls and dive at the party.] [The gargoyles swarm the party, missing Charlotte, clawing Nyyx terribly, winging Skip and slicing Theodore. Confusion reigns.] * Nyyx staggers from the blows, but she manages to take a chunk out of one gargoyle as it passes. * Theodore casts fireball killing three gargoyles and injuring two others * Nyyx tears into the nearest gargoyle with two quick strikes, felling it and ripping into its neighbor. * Charlotte takes aim at the wounded and fires another three arrows in rapid succession * Charlotte steps back a bit before that happens * Biff trots back just far enough to get in range of the massive melee and launches a ball of electricity from his cannon into the spine of a gargoyle, blasting it into half a dozen sparking, bloody bits. * Charlotte strikes more, hurting them a lot. [More dust rises in the distance behind the party.] * Skip takes numerous swings, but can't seem to penetrate their rough skin. * Biff sees a pair of gargoyles turn to come after him and says a magical profanity, which splits him into eight identical cats. * Nyyx cleaves another gargoyle in half as it attempts to move past her. [The gargoyles retaliate as best they can, slashing and clawing as they approach.] * Theodore casts magic missiles at the 2 most injured gargoyles * Nyyx goes after the nearest two gargoyles and carves them up like Christmas hams. * Charlotte points her bow at the remaining Gargoyles and opens fire. * Nyyx 's wounds close up completely as she completes her attack, the lifeblood from the fallen creatures absorbing into her blade and then into her body. * Charlotte lands arrows in two of them, dropping one * Biff fires a ball of cold from his cannon right past the head of the last gargoyle, then nearly takes Nyyx's nose off. He eeps and hides, blending into the shadow. [Skip leaps into the air and lands, shredding the flesh of the last attacker. The last gargoyle grins horribly and slashes at Skip, landing a solid hit.] * Nyyx finishes off the last gargoyle, and it collapses in shreds. * Biff whispers back over his link, "Everybody get moving!" * Nyyx sheathes her sword, picks Theodore back up, and keeps going. * Charlotte gets moving Something's headed our way from the south! Well, headed to the tower. * Skip sheathes his axes and gets back to jumping. I guess we'll see what it is once we get there. [The party picks up and rushes to the tower. After about thirty seconds, the spire looms two hundred feet into the sky before the party. Its baroque stylings are a testament to the artisanship of the city, but may well hidden additional enemies.] [Of immediate concern, however, is the open section of pavement surrounding the tower. 200' of brick street separate the party and the tower entrance.] * Nyyx grimaces. "This could mean alerting the elementals." Any idea what entered the tower, Charlotte? One more Biff special distraction, coming right up! Hmm.. * Biff perches, along with his eight clones, on the edge of the building, and a few magic words of leetness later, there's a whole squad of warriors guarding the causeway, kicking up a ruckus for the elementals. * Skip turns to the party. "Rope, I need rope. I can scale the wall and tie off a line above the first floor. It should save us the trouble of dealing with those elementals." * Nyyx hands Skip a 50' coil of silk rope from her pack. * Biff pulls out his own coil of rope, which is bigger than he is. fft. What kind of adventurer doesn't carry a coil of rope? * Skip takes all of the rope and starts tying all of the ends together, with a grappling hook on each end. Gimme one end * Skip finds a good place to hook one end of the rope to their current building and gives the other end to Charlotte. [Earth elementals glide out of the pavement several dozen feet from the entrance into the city center and walk toward the legion.] * Charlotte grabs it and flies over to the tower to find a good spot [Sounds of combat echo to from the west and up from the street as the elementals and legion meet. Dust flies up in sudden bursts.] * Nyyx glances back toward the legion. "It's a good thing that's not us." Yeah... speaking of us. Nyyx, you got hurt by the Gargoyles, right? How're you feeling? * Charlotte keeps looking for a spot to attach the rope * Biff messages, "In a window, Charlotte. Hook it in a second or third floor window." I'm fine for now, Charlotte, but thank you for asking. * Charlotte goes to look for a window! * Charlotte hooks the rope into one! It's ready! Excellent. Are we ready? Is everything secure, Skip? I'll go across first. * Nyyx nods. "Go ahead, Biff." * Biff hops up onto the rope and runs across. * Biff sends back about twenty seconds later, "I'm across. Send over the next person." I can bring up the rear. You two go ahead. * Skip dangles off of the line as he wriggles across like a spider. * Nyyx waits for Theodore to cross before making the trip herself. * Theodore slowly moves across [The party scrambles across the line and into the tower in a few short minutes while the battle between the legion and the elementals rages in the streets below. By the time everyone is across, more elementals have entered the square and gargoyles have begun to assault the now doomed legion. The party finds itself on a spiral staircase leading up into the gloom.] * Nyyx begins heading up the stairs. * Skip follows and whispers, "Leave the ropes; we might need them to get back out of here." * Biff hops up onto Nyyx's shoulder. * Biff whispers, "Indoor scouting is too dangerous, I'm with you." * Nyyx nods. "Not a problem. Skip, Charlotte? Do either of you want to take a quick look upstairs beforehand?" Sure. * Charlotte looks, an- "INCOMING!" ( * Biff shouts, "IT'S A GUNDAM!" ) ( We're screwed ) * Nyyx draws her sword and prepares to meet whatever is coming. * Charlotte takes out her bow [Through the nearby windows, the party can see the figure reach the edge of the rooftops.
