[Summary of last session's conclusion: The party fought desperately to bring down the raging Evelyn as she straffed the party with fireballs and life-draining spells. Perdo has breached the barrier between the demiplane and the rest of the world, but died at the party's hand. The breach now rages uncontrolled while Nyxx has begun to sink into the corpse of Perdo. Things look bad for our heroes. At the edge of all of this, Steven looks on silently.] Session Start: Fri Mar 23 18:53:45 2007 Session Ident: #castlevania * Logging for #castlevania started * Theodore casts Magic Missiles at Evelyn [Evelyn explodes in a meaty wad of magical fire. Her corpse begins to fall to the ground when it is caught up in the breach and pulled into the still screaming form of Perdo. Evelyn begins to twist and spasm with the beginnings of reanimation before she disappears entirely.] * Nyyx struggles against the force that continues to pull her toward the breach, but she gets nowhere. * Lucas runs to assist Nyyx and attempts to pull her away with all of the might he can muster. [With divinely-inspired strength, the priest grabs onto Nyyx's shoulders and pulls back. The fighter's hand emerges from Perdo's chest covered in black ichor. The ichor leaves a trail hanging in the air from the hand to a hole in Perdo's chest.] [The party stands in the middle of the town's main thoroughfare. The street is deserted save the party, Steven looking on impassively, Perdo's screaming corpse attached to Nyyx and the glowing, unstable planar breach perhaps 20' away.] * Lucas says, "Siobhan, come over here a moment." He turns to Nyyx. "You channeled negative energy and only after you found yourself stuck?" Mayhaps a burst of positive energy is what is needed. * Siobhan approaches Lucas and Nyyx Any ideas? And thanks for your help, Lucas. * Nyyx examines the ichor covering her hand and flexes her fingers experimentally. I have a bit of healing left I could try, but on what? [Nyyx's hand flexes easily. The ground trembles for a second.] * Nyyx darts a glance around warily. "What was that?" * Lucas looks at Nyyx's hand. "That would be a start, and I would try quickly, as something seems afoot... no pun meant." Nyyx... when you flex your hand, does the ground usually shake? * Nyyx tries again. [Same result.] Well that is interesting. * Siobhan looks skeptical. "You want me to heal Nyyx, or the black goop?" That's odd. "At the moment, l'd would guess they're rather integrated. Lay your hands on the ichor entwined with her hand and see what happens. * Nyyx holds out her hand to the paladin. * Siobhan shrugs. "Ok, here goes nothing." * Siobhan places her hand over Nyyx's and says a short prayer. * Theodore fireballs Perdo's corpse [Siobhan's hands glow with a bright nimbus, throwing the street in harsh relief. Nyyx is healed and heartened by the gesture, but the ichor remains.] Move back. Maybe fire will work here. * Nyyx moves back as instructed. "I hope you know what you're doing...not that we have many options at this point, I suppose." Well I either we fix this now or the plane won't be here. What I mean exactly. Go ahead. * Lucas steps back, away from the rift and back toward the party * Theodore fires a fireball into Perdo's corpse [Dust and debris fill the square, obscurring sight beyond the street. More and more matter is flooding into Perdo and the rushing storm is starting to drown out his screams.] [The fireball lights up the square. There is no town left beyond the street, just cracked pavement and gray waste. The fire flows into Perdo, blackening his features, but doing little else.] I see two possibilities here. One, we try to cut the cord and see if that helps anything, or two, we cover Nyyx in the stuff. * Theodore examines the sucking closely [The ground begins to buckle and the sky dims.] * Nyyx runs over to take a look also. * Nyyx takes a closer look at the breach. [The stream of ichor is greedily consumed by the hole. Nyyx is now directly linked to the planar breach. The pain is terrible.] * Nyyx shrieks. * Lucas quickly examines the ichor, and questions whether his power can transfer the ichor to himself [The breach is feeding on Perdo and Nyyx to stabilize itself. It is glutted with uncontrolled power. Perdo had no clue what he was doing.] * Lucas channels his negative energy to pull the ichor off Nyyx. [Unless the breach is stabilized, the plane will collapse. If it can be made stable for even a few seconds, the party may escape.] * Nyyx fights the pain as best as she can and tries to will the plane into stability. [Lucas focuses on the siphon skill, pulling the ichor onto himself and part of Nyyx along with it. Now both are linked to the breach with Perdo.] [The ground may be gone at this point. The world is dark and Nyyx and Lucas can feel themselves dying.] * Nyyx attempts to siphon from the breach as she struggles against death. I reach into the hole and try to link with it to control it somehow [Lucas rips the ichor from Nyyx and like a straining dog, pulls the breach to heel for a precious second. In that instant, Theodore's hand reached through to feel the warmth of the world beyond.] I reach back out * Theodore jumps through the breach into whatever is on the other side [Theodore disappears.] * Lucas yells, "Everyone, jump, I'll go last and hold this ichor here till the last moment!" * Lucas concentrates on keeping the breach open long enough for all to jump through. * Siobhan jumps through after Theodore. * Nyyx works her way through the breach. [Siobhan and Theodore disappear.] * Nyyx is now known as CheeseAFK * Lucas watches his comrades disappear, and when they are fully away, he focuses on closing the breach * Lucas moves in on Perdon, attempting to wield the ichor tendril like a leash. "HEEL!" * Lucas continues to channel his syphon against Perdo's corpse. [The ichor attached to Lucas's hand pulls itself into his flesh with a snap, yanking Perdo's body forward until the fool's screaming head is seeping into Lucas's hand. The storm settles for another moment. The breach is stable.] [To Lucas's eyes, the plane is now only a dust storm leading out to darkness. Only he, Perdo and the glowing breach remain.] * Lucas considers the change in the storm as a result of Perdo's movement. Taking a chance, he attempts to pull Perdo farther out, expecting further merger, but hoping to remain in control. [Perdo's skull breaks and fuses with Lucas's hand. As this happens, Lucas is met with the screaming remains of Perdo's mind and the core of the breach. The priest's will falters and the breach begins to stir.] [Linked to Perdo, Lucas can sense the breach and the plane. It is now a shell perhaps 100' in diameter rapidly shrinking into the silent abyss at its center. The breach is situated on the edge of the shell itself.] [The plane collapses to 50' in diameter.] [Perdo flows into Lucas's arm up past the elbow. Lucas pulls the twitching mass behind him as he approaches the momentarily stable portal.] [The plane is 50' in diameter.] * Lucas pushes further toward the breach, and focuses his channeling on drawing Perdo further within him. [Lucas and Perdo are more or less now interconnected, albeit nonuniformly. Lucas, now mostly crippled with the weight and bulk, falls into the portal.] [Lucas disappears.] [The party appears in a field surrounded by crumbling walls under a midevening moon.] yaya [Everyone is on the ground, exhausted.] [As each person looks around, they see a slight nimbus around the other party members.] [As Lucas examines himself, he sees that Perdo is still slowly assimilating into his tissues.] [As Lucas looks around, he sees a faint glow perhaps 10' in front of him. As he watches, it brightens and then, through some nauseating geometrical bend, settles as a jet black sphere about the size of a hand and falls to the ground.] [Once this happens, the nimbus around everyone brightens.
