[ We find Vall being escorted through a tunnel. Every twenty feet or so is a murder-hole with an archer watching it. As they watch Vall go by, they grin. ] [ Soon Vall is escorted into a series of offices, and finally to a door where one of the Drow scouts escorting him knocks on the door, and is answered by a female voice. "Enter." And so he does, pushing Vall to go in. ] (lessee here, there's a drow behind me, two drow beside me, and archers ready to shoot me every 20 feet or so, right?) * Vall enters, looking around and taking it all in. [ No more archers, now. But there are four people in this room. ] [ Two of the people in the room are females in leather armor and piwawfi cloaks; probably scouts like your escorts. A third is a drow woman in adamantine chainmail and carrying two longswords; she must be the captain. ] * Vall nods to the well-armed female. "Greetings, Captain." [ The last person is not drow. She is, apparently, a human woman, save for the fact that she has claws and wings, and is damn near eight feet tall. She wears armor clearly made from the hide of a blue dragon; it matches her wings. She has a fine scar running past one eye; it must be important, or she would've had it removed. ] [ The captain looks Vall over. "A surfacer. Why did you bring him to me, Imloth?" One of the scouts bows. "He pretents to have useful information for you, Captain." ] [ "Does he?" says the captain, incredulously. Meanwhile, the huge dragon-woman is studying Vall carefully, a smile slowly growing on her face. The captain looks to Vall. "What of it, surfacer? What is this information you have for me?" ] Indeed I do, of a group of Duergar nearby, and their travel plans. [ "Oh? How, nearby? Is it a large group? Can you describe their leader?" ] * Vall describes the group we met at the inn. "They should already have reached the borders of the troll kingdom by now, as their path took them that way." [ "You have wasted my time, surfacer. Those Duergar are diplomats, and they have just left our city this morning. We already have a group of scouts stalking them." The big woman grins, bearing sharp, fanglike teeth. "How sad, Vall. All this effort for nothing." ] [ The Captain glances at the Large one. "You know of this one, then, Sherincal?" The woman nods. "Indeed I do. He is part of some... unrelated business of mine, and his presence here in this room tells me a great deal." ] [ The woman adressed as Sherincal looks down at Vall. "Congratulations. You have fulfilled the prophecy and betrayed your friends." ] Interesting, as before today you and I have never met. What is this unrelated business you speak of? [ "Oh, it is nothing you should concern yourself with any longer. For you see, I am about to have you killed, and then I am going to use your corpse as bait to kill your friends. So you see, you *have* betrayed them, and you will yet further. How delightful it is." ] [ "Captain," says Sherincal, "If you would have your guards cut him down, well, it would be a great personal favor to me, and I will ensure it is reciprocated." The Drow Captain nods. "Certainly. Any last words, surfacer?" ] * Vall smiles a Patrick-like smile. "Yes." And quickly casts glitterdust before bolting for the door, not even bothering to see if they've been blinded by it. [ Congratulations, you've cast a spell while in an area threatened by five rogues. ] [ Vall dies with a great many short swords lodged in his neck, head, and upper body. ] [ Sherincal picks up Vall's corpse, and shakes it to bleed it out faster. "And now to fulfill the rest of my promise. I bid you good- day for now, Captain. I will no doubt see you later." And she walks out of the room, Vall slung over her shoulder. Session End. ]
