[ You're all packed into the same room; the office of your homeroom instructor, Professor Katsuragi. She sits, leaning back in her chair as you anxiously await the quest of dire importance and optimum training potential that she is to send you on! ] (*snickers* Katsuragi, eh? ;) ) ("...go out and get us some more beer." "QUEST ON!") ( o/` ) ( Good guess! ) [ "eeeeehyeah," she says idly. "I could really go for some Dragonbrau. Ever had it? 'S good stuff. So. Go fetch me a pint." ] (Not Yebisu? You sure? ;) ) * Patrick is smiling. Is this new? I hope not, because it's certainly not the first time you've seen it. "Where would this Dragonbrau be found?" ( Yup. You can get Yebisu anywhere. Dragonbrau's rare! ) What is Dragonbrau? * Tia blinks at the professor. * Ariake thinks back. "I remember...something..." * Tia glances over at Ariake. [ "Dragonbrau is beer. Rare beer. Home brewed by copper dragons. Think it's fermented from their acid breath, but not sure." ] * Seylin makes a face briefly. Sounds lovely * Tia takes awhile to think that over. "That's good stuff?" she asks dubiously. Anything that can get a dragon drunk is good stuff. * Vall smiles Of course. * Tia smiles uncertainly. [ She takes a chug of more ordinary liquid before resuming. "But it's good. And really, really powerful. It's outlawed by the ICFDA 'cause it's supposed to be dangerous or something, and this is a dry campus - you didn't see me drinking here, by the way - so I doubt you'll be able to find any around here." ] * Patrick grins. "So, where's the closest Copper Dragon. Any of you know?" * Tia shakes her head. * Seylin giggles. "Dragon searching! But I don't know, either." Oh, my. * Seylin blinks at Ariake. "Hmm?" [ "Actually, I've heard there's a Kobold monestary somewhere in the nearby highlands where they keep a bunch of it. Crazy little sumbitches, those Kobolds." ] * Patrick smirks. "Kobolds. This should be fun." ^_^ * Ariake raises an eyebrow. "Nothing. Finding a copper dragon will be...yes. Interesting." Copper dragon, kobolds... damn. * Seylin taps her chin with a finger. "I kinda doubt they're going to just give it to us if we walk up and ask them. So we'll just have to be creative!" Why do you think I said it'd be fun? ^_^ * Seylin grins back at him. This is also nothing new. "Oh, I agree!" Okay, if you say so. * Tia grins. Ah, what the hell, why not. Count me in. Not just kobolds, but kobold monks... Extra credit. And you know... It's going to be off capus. Kobold Monks? I've never seen a kobold monk before... Great, that's gonna be even more interesting! * Ariake smiles. "I'll come along." Kobold monks... keep things at a distance, is all I have to say. Or let Tia play paddleball with them. * Seylin smiles. "Oh, they'll never even know I'm there!" * Tia grins. "Heehee!" [ Professor Katsuragi shrugs. "Anyway, this'll be... eh, two hours extra credit." (GM note: That's close to a lot.) "More than it's worth, but hey, I have confidence in you guys, y'know? So hop to it." ] Okay! Sure thing Prof. * Tia whispers, "Wow, two hours!" You got it! * Ariake nods. "Sounds good." * Patrick is all ready to go, so... [ And so, Our Heroes head out! And they don't even all have complete charsheets, even! ] (I do! ;p) (Sorry. ;_;) (as do I! neener neener neener! :) (I ain't sayin' nuffin'. :) ) [ They need to find either a copper dragon, or someone who knows where the monestary of the drunken kobolds is! ] (I have one mostly completed! All the important stuff is done, anyways. :P) ("Monestary of the Drunken Kobolds" would be a fantastic name for a rock band.) (Yes it would.) (We should use that for our band name since Flying Couches is now the house name. ;p) Well, what say we hit the tavern in the nearest town. Always a good place to get news on beer. (Monestary of the drunken couches?) (Couches can't get drunk, silly!) * Patrick smirks. "Sure thing." Works for me! (... You've never met Mr. Ed, have you? :P) ( you've never seen my couch. ) * Ariake nods. "Definitely." (I thought that was a horse.) [ They have two leads for this; Felgolos, the school mascot and relic salesman, is a bronze dragon who might know some copper friends. Meanwhile, Daphne over at the Red Lightning house just north of your own Flying Couches house is said to be a great sage in the ways of drinking, so she might know where to get some Dragonbrau. ] (It's only a myth that he's a horse. He's really the only couch left in the dorm. And he's plenty drunk all the time, if you know what I mean. ~_^) So, do you guys wanna talk to a dragon or a drunkard? * Tia thinks. As long as it isn't both in one... What about a drunk- darn, you stole my line! I think the dragon's the better bet. Me too. * Seylin grins at Ariake. * Ariake smiles. * Patrick smirks. I'll just have to talk faster now! Dragon it is! * Ariake nods. * Patrick starts to meander in the direction Felgolos stays, assuming he's easily accessible. * Tia skips along after Patrick. (I'm picturing a Dracotour skip, and it's mentally disturbing...) * Vall hangs back, but still following the others to the dragon * Seylin takes to the air and flies next to Patrick. "I could race you... but I'll be nice today." (Haha! X3) * Ariake follows along. Heh, if we were racing, you'd still be back there. ~_^ Not anymore! [ Felgolos is actually very easily accessible, being on the northwestern end of the campus - also near your house. He's currently engaged in bartering with a Dwarf that makes weapons and armor on- campus. Felgolos, having the higher CHA schore, is doing a better job.] (Heh.) There he is! (sure, beat up on poor, uncharismatic boors like dwarves) * Tia waves madly. "Hi, there!" * Vall waves * Seylin lands and waves. "Good afternoon!" She smiles. * Ariake waves in greeting. * Tia trots over to where the dragon and dwarf are bartering. Yo! What's up? Whatcha doin'? [ Felgolos is young for a dragon, being about Tia's size. He soon concludes his bargaining with the nice Dwarf, who still wound up making a nice profit, and waves back at Tia. "Well hello there. What can I do for you?" ] Hi, guys. We're on assignment to get some Dragonbrau. Think you could point us in the right direction? ^_^ * Tia nods. "Yeah, we thought you might know." She grins. * Ariake nods. Yep, that we do! * Vall nods. "Any help would be appreciated." * Tia is slightly distracted by a blue butterfly, which she is now watching with interest. [ "Hmmmm. Well, my old friend Justuppantandtleft used to brew the stuff. Drank it like a fish, too. But he died a while back screaming something about his liver being on fire." ] * Ariake raises an eyebrow. "Sounds promising." * Seylin blinks. "Wow. That stuff *is* dangerous." * Tia turns her attention back to Felgolos. "He died? I'm sorry..." * Tia looks at her friends. "Maybe we shouldn't get it for the professor...?" Ah, she'll take care of herself. As long as she don't drink too much at once. [ "Iiiii don't know any other copper dragons. I doubt the golds and silvers that hang around here would, either. Well, maybe Miirya, if you can find her, but I'm guessing that'd take too long." ] Two hours credit, Tia. She doesn't have to drink it. But I'm sure she can handle herself all right. We heard something about kobold monks having some. Yeah. Hear anythin' 'bout that? * Tia nods. "Oh, yeah. Two hours credit." * Tia 's gaze follows the butterfly again. [ "Ah, the Monks of the Drunken Dragon order. I don't know where they live, but I'm pretty sure Daphne McAlpin over at the Red Lightning would. I mean, she's a martial artist into heavy drinking, so." ] [ "Don't suppose I can intrest you in buying anything while you're here? Just got a fresh shipment of mithril weapons!" ] Ooh! I always like the shiny new ones! "Well, do you have any specialty arrows?" Mmm, I think I'm okay with mine. But thank you for the offer! * Patrick smirks. "Unless the prices is very low, I'm not interested. Thanks for the offer, though..." Hmm...what sort do you have? [ "Do I have specialty arrows? Ha!" He gestures, and two large oak racks loaded with arrows of all sorts appear from nowhere. Felgolos gestures to them and starts in on his sales pitch! ] ("Arrows. Lots of arrows.") * Tia looks on, entranced by the shinies. * Patrick shrugs and inspects the merchandise. How good is it? (The arrows, I mean.) Hmm, not quite my thing... * Seylin leaves the arrows to people who use them more than she does. (How's his selection, too?) * Vall sorts through arrows. "What are we looking at here?" [ Everything made and sold by Felgolos is top-notch quality, of course. A Lawful Good dragon would sell nothing else. ] ( okay, do we have any flare arrows? enchanted fireball arrows? exploding arrows? ) (How's it compare to what I make?) ( It's much better than what you make, Patrick. And no wou don't, Vall. I don't think so, anyway. ) * Seylin hums softly. It's some random tune that she's probably making up as she goes along. ( looking mostly for magnesium flare arrows, actually, for later excursions during summer break ) * Patrick smiles. "Nice stuff. I'm already set, though." [ I should note that you prolly don't have the money for it right now. And IC shopping would be boring right now anyways. ;P ] (You do realize I can make flash arrows.) ( 200 pp left over. I have some cash for them :) Well, thanks for the perusal, but I think I'm set for now. * Ariake nods. "Thanks for your help!" ( actually, Pat, I didn't. ) * Tia gives the dragon a hug. "Thanks, Fel!" (Well, now you do. ^_^) Yep, we're all good! But if we ever need anything, I'm sure we'll be back. Thank you! [ "Aww. Well, okay. And good luck finding your pleasant toxin!" ] * Seylin giggles at that. * Tia grins. * Patrick semi-salutes the dragon and grins. "See ya!" Let's find Daphne. * Tia nods and follows Patrick again. * Vall nods. * Ariake follows. * Patrick goes to find Daphne! For great justice! * Vall hangs back as the group heads out. It seems to be a typical position for him, being tail-end Charlie * Seylin takes to the air again. She's such a showoff. ;p * Patrick is leading, despite him having the longest-range weapon here. * Tia amuses herself by hopping along on three paws, then two. [ You all go to find Daphne! Which isn't hard. She's in the lower level of the Red Lightning house, which is dominated by a restaurant that's popular on-campus. Daphne, a tall blonde human girl with a love of alcohol, is a waitress here. As you enter, she's involved in screaming bloody murder in the direction of a patron who probably did something to upset her, and who looks suitably frightened for his life. ] * Patrick doesn't looked bothered in the least. Ooh, Daphne's mad again. * Seylin giggles. "Oh, this should be good!" [ Since he's easily recognizeable as a Stone Fist barbarian, tho, you're not inclined to save him juuuust yet. Three of Daphne's housemates are trying to hold her back, however. ] Oh, dear... Yeah. Hey, what'd he do this time? [ Another waitress, who shows up near you as you enter, says "Oh, he slapped her on the rump and called her 'sweetcheeks'. You know how his type is." ] * Tia makes a face. He deserves his fate. I'd let her kick his ass. Oooh. Yeah, he deserves whatever he gets! In fact, you want us to help? * Patrick cracks his knuckles. * Tia nods emphatically. [ "Anyway. I'm Red the Red, and if you're here for food than I'll be your waitress for the next indeterminate period of time." ] Can I have a glass of water? We'd be happy to help out! And, um, we're not really here for food. We wanted to talk to Daphne, actually. * Ariake whistles tunelessly, eyeing the man, and gives her staff a trial swing. "Hmm...ribs, or kidney..." * Tia 's paws are already quivering with anticipation. "I love brawls!" she proclaims happily. [ "You *want* to talk to Daphne? Man, that's ballsy. But yeah, I'll let her know. As soon as I get some water for the dracotaur here." She goes to do that. ] Groin. Eh. I'm going for pain, not disabling. * Seylin doesn't seem bothered by the waitress' statement, and keeps watching the fight intently. Oh, but that would do both! Hmm... Groin is *very* painful, let me tell you. [ Meanwhile, Daphne has managed to get free of two of her friends, with only the young Kardos the Bold (named thus as a joke, since he's the shyest person in the known world) left trying to hold her back. Which is hard, because he's actually smaller than she is. ] (*sniggers* Ah, good ol' Kardos.) (Kardos! Go Kardos!) * Tia can't stand still and has already toppled a few chairs as she shifts around trying to get a better view. * Vall walks over there, non-chalantly. "He's not worth it," he mentions off-hand to Kardos. * Ariake is sidling up behind the guy, although certainly not too close. * Patrick observes the situation and considers it in his best interest to wait. (meaning, let her beat him up) [ "B-b-but", stammers the young warrior, "every life is sacreOW". This last bit as Daphne managed to locate him by his voice and elbow him in the forehead, causing him to let go of her. The poor, hapless towering brute of a barbarian gives a girlish yelp before Daphne begins the assault in earnest. ] Woo!! * Tia is genuinely thrilled as the fight begins. Left hook! Now give him an uppercut! Maybe so, but ... Ow, that's gotta hurt. Go Daphne!! * Tia giggles. * Ariake smiles oddly and gives the guy a sharp prod in the kidney with the sharper end of her staff. She won't kill him. Maim him, dishonor him, maybe castrate him, if she loses it, but she won't kill him. [ The fight doesn't actually last long, sadly, and soon Daphne's hauled the big guy outside and put him up on a nearby flagpole. She's back by the time Red is handing Tia her wayer. ] After all, he won't admit to his buddies that he got his ass kicked by a girl. Aw, it's over? That was quick. * Seylin applauds. * Ariake smiles. "Nice job!" * Tia looks disappointed, but she takes the glass from the waitress. "Thank you!" * Tia dumps the glassful of water onto her back, letting it soak in, and sighs with contentment. [ "Aye, aye," Daphne mutters. "Red, ye got these'uns?" Red shrugs, and says "Actually, they're here to talk to you." Daphne looks you over and says, "Ye in Katsuragi's class?" ] * Vall nods. Hi, Daphne! * Tia grins widely. [ Daphne waves. "Oi." ] Yeah. Ya already know what we wanna know, don'tcha? ~_^ Yes, we are! Nice to meet you! * Seylin smiles. * Vall offers her a hand in greeting. "Nice work there. He deserved it." * Ariake waves. "Yes, that's us." [ Meanwhile, Alcinoe, the house's cleric, goes outside to tend to the injuries of the wounded moron. ] * Tia nods. "The professor wants us to get some Dragonbrau!" (Wow. You having everyone come in, Robin? :P) * Patrick waits for a response. * Vall waits as well * Tia waits eagerly. [ "Right," says Daphne. "Figured she wanted more of that poison." She begins telling you how to get the Monastery of the Drunken Kobolds, which is up one of the obscrure cliffwall passageways near the university grounds, up to a flat area where the monastery stands there being big and towering. ] * Vall waits with the patience of an elf... that's very patiently. * Ariake nods, and makes notes. * Tia listens and nods. * Seylin listens and remembers. * Patrick grins the whole while. This isn't unusual in the least. [ "Now, the kobolds will want to run ye through some obstacles to 'test your worth' or somesuch nonsense. And since their monastery's build for kobolds, ye cannae just beat 'em all up and go get it yeselves, so." ] * Tia looks uncertain. "I don't like tests." * Ariake raises an eyebrow. Obstacle courses? [ "Obstacle courses, fights, ye name it. All the cliche' stuff." ] Sounds interesting. * Tia brightens. "Oh, I can do fights." (... You're ripping this off of what I did for Aeoth, aren't you Robin? :P) * Seylin blinks. "Darn. I was hoping it would be something more original." * Ariake nods. * Patrick yawns. "Boring, boring, and boring." That doesn't sound too bad. Hey, just think: two hours' credit. Exactly. Well, thanks a lot, Daphne. * Ariake nods. "Thank you!" Yeah, thanks! Yep, thank you! * Tia wags her tail cheerfully, knocking over another table or two. * Ariake grins. "And if I see that guy again, I'll give him a prod in the spleen for you." [ "Ach, no problem. Oh, an' don' drink none of that Dragonbrau. 'S bad for ye health." ] * Patrick nods and grins. "Noted. See ya later!" So we've heard. Thanks. * Ariake nods. I believe it. Take care! [ Tia actually trips a waitress, who gets lunch all over her. Poor dear. ] * Seylin waves. ("I'll have a dragonbreath." "Here you go." *drink* "Okay, roll up a new character!" "...") (Hahaha!) * Vall helps Tia clean up the waitress. Oh, dear... * Ariake helps, as well. (okay, that came out *wrong*) Oh, sorry! * Tia looks terribly embarrassed and helps pick up the mess. * Vall casts Mage Hand to help clean up the mess... (Hahaha.) [ Daphne sighs and also helps. Soon she's clean, with nothing left soiled but her dignity! Which means you can QUEST ON! ] * Tia waves and runs off to catch up to the others. * Vall goes to catch up as well. * Ariake follows! Climbing... I wonder, if we have to go up, do you think you can lift a few of us, Tia? * Tia grins. "Well, I can fly...a little." [ Tia can fly. Landing is another thing entirely. ] I'm not very good at it, though. * Ariake nods. "I'd really appreciate it." * Tia grins apologetically. "I'll do my best!" ( *SNRK* ) Climbing shouldn't be too much of an issue. You can handle yourself, right Vall? I can. Just thinking of how to make things slightly easier. * Tia hums to herself. [ I should note that this is more like climbing stairs than climbing a sheer cliff face. Daph did say it was a path, after all. ] (Right.) ("A path! A path!") Flying, climbing, it's all good! * Tia grins and nods. * Patrick heads up! * Tia stretches her wings. Seylin, keep your eyes out for traps. ~_^ [ And so Our Heroes begin climbing! And climbing. And climbing. And meanwhile the GM goes to get some water. ] What, we haven't been there- ohh, *those* kinds of traps. On it! * Vall gets a song stuck in his head, and can't help but sing. "There's trouble with the maples, and they're quite convinced they're right. They say the oaks are just to lofty, we will make them give us light. So now there's no more oak oppression, for they cast a noble law. And the trees are all kept equal, by hatchet, axe, and saw." * Seylin does so. * Ariake joins in. Why not? * Tia hums along. ( and I majorly butchered the song ) ( Never heard of it. ;) ) ( ...oh, God. The game hasn't even started and we've already got a singing elf. ) (Hahahahahah) (I should join and play a bard!) ("The Trees", by Rush, off _Hemispheres_, methinks) (A gnome bard. Secretly plotting to kill you all. Oh, I ruined it.) (Bwahaha.) (Sing something good. Like Nirvana. :P) ( That's so not-elven... ) (*imagines DnD characters screaming Teen Spirit on the top of their lungs* Do it.) (*cracks up*) ( Sure. Tia can play drums. ) ( *casts Magic Missile* "Did you forget? It's swords *AND* sorcery." %) (Yes, but did you attack the darkness?) ( You mean I get to hit things? ALRIGHT! ) ( *nods sagely* Exactly.) ( at least I wasn't singing "Used to Love Her", by G'N'R, like an elf bard I know did... and almost had his head blown off by a musket-wielding bar wench) (Are we there yet? ;) ) * Vall makes sure he's properly outfitted for whatever we'll encounter before we start climbing, and has to pause every so often to recover his strength. * Patrick already put his gear on. He's moving just as easily as before, though, and he still hasn't taken a weapon out. * Tia saunters along merrily, the smile never leaving her face. She has her axe over her shoulder * Ariake has her gear, and has put the hood of her cloak up. * Seylin has her gear, too, and is walking instead of flying for the time being. * Patrick walks up very quickly. Mmmm, go Boots of Striding. [ And so Our Heroes go uphill! And up. And up. And up. And pretty soon they're all sore 'scept Tia, 'cause she's hella tough. ] * Tia dances a little victory jig! We made it! Ugh. I should've flown up. * Tia jumps up and down. That wasn't...whew...*too* bad. * Vall steadies himself slightly. "Note to self: Endurance spell!" [ And Our Heroes crest the next ledge to find... that they're not there yet. ] * Patrick flexes once he reaches the top. If he's worn out, he's not letting on he is. "Not bad at all." * Will has joined #Canyonhome * Vall sits down on the step. "Damn." [ Suddenly, a door appears in mid-air, and a young girl with big pink hair strangely remeniscent of a crab boots Will our through the door. "Out ya go! And have fun!" ] * Will runs huffing and puffing trying to catch up. * Tia stops in mid jig and stares. * Seylin waves. "Hi!" Hey, it's Will! Took ya long enough, Will. We thought you'd miss the dragonbrau run * Patrick smirks. "Hey man, what's up! Slap me some skin." * Patrick holds out his hand for a high-five. * Ariake blinks, and waves hello. * Will says "OW!!" and rubs his aching butt. ( I love random appearances. ^_^ But you should thank me for not using the plushie system. ) (...plushie system.) * Will gives Patrick a high-five. (... Ewww.) * Patrick takes his hand away at the last second. "Too slow!" He smiles. (Oh, com'on. Who didn't see *THAT* coming.) (Hehe.) * Tia continues dancing around the cliff top. * Will laughs. "I'll keep that in mind next time you need healing" * Ariake grins. We're here! We're here! We're here! * Seylin giggles. "He may have you there." * Patrick snickers. "Hey, I didn't say you were too slow at that. Until you prove me wrong." ~_^ [ And then a little kobold in robes and armwraps steps out from the bamboo. "Greetings. You come for the most sacred brew?" ] * Vall stands up, and nods solemnly. * Tia halts abruptly. "Ooh! A kobold. Hi!" Good afternoon! That we did! * Ariake bows politely in greeting. "Hello! Yes, we do." We come for da booze. [ "Greetings, disturbingly large one. Please, all of you, follow me this way." He steps back into the bamboo thicket. ] * Tia skips joyfully after the kobold. This is so fun! * Patrick raises an eyebrow, but is still smiling. "Keep your eyes out Seylin." * Patrick follows! * Ariake follows. * Tia is crushing bamboo stalks right and left. Always am, always am. [ Tia tramples a path through the forest while following the small, shifty kobold. ] * Seylin follows, wings tightly folded against her back. * Will follows behind Tia * Patrick clips a pace fast enough to keep the Kobold in sight. * Vall follows, making sure to stay back far enough to cover the entire party [ The kobold leads you up a slight incline, over a small stream, and then into a clearing, where a large monastery made for small people is carved out of the rock of the cliff wall. ] Wow, it's pretty, Mr. Kobold! .oO(What I wouldn't give to have a halfling thief in our party.) Impressive. [ The monastery is carved with imagery depicting dragons and kobolds getting drunk and worshiping stuff. ] * Ariake admires it. * Seylin looks at it. "Oh, nice!" * Patrick sees it, then stifles a laugh. "I like the architecture a lot." * Seylin giggles. That's a funny dragon. * Tia giggles. [ "Thank you. Here we worship the Sacred Spirits." You could swear you hear a rimshot from somewhere. "We must test your worth before you can take some of our holy drink from this place, however." ] Bring on the second test, then. * Ariake nods. * Tia feels the dread suddenly dawning. "Ohh, I hate tests," she wails. (the first test being those stairs we just climbed!) It's okay, Tia. I'll help! * Ariake nods. ( Thanks for the info Vall.) Thanks, Seylin! * Tia grins at the half-celestial. [ "Second? No. We start with the first test. You must answer the riddles of the Bridgekeeper." ] * Patrick shrugs. "Bring it on!" * Seylin smiles. "No problem!" *muttered* "You mean those stairs weren't a test in and of themselves?" * Tia nods. "Riddles? Okay. I like riddles!" * Seylin looks at the kobold. "Okay, we're ready!" * Will nods. * Vall nods as well. * Patrick nudges Vall. "It's just some stairs. What's wrong, can't take it?" * Patrick smirks. * Ariake nods. * Tia wags her tail. [ The kobold points to another, more solemn kobold standing near a bridge leading across a chasm to the monastery. The kobold looks up so he can see you from under his hood (they all wear hoods, likely to keep the sun from their eyes), and says, "The first question. A man goes in search of the Proof of Beer. What does he find?" ] You do realize how bad of a pun that is, don'tcha? (The Nintendo seal of approval.) Proof of Beer. That sounds important. Sounds like a number to me. * Tia glances at Seylin blankly. "Do you get it?" * Seylin grins at Patrick. "I'll bet they do. But I don't remember much about alcohol." * Ariake thinks. * Seylin looks at Tia. "Um. Alcohol's strength is measured in proof. But I don't remember what it would be for beer." Proof of Beer... well, is he looking for whether beer exists, or the alcohol content of beer. ? * Patrick scratches his head. "Alcohol content, I bet. What's the number, though..." [ "I cannot answer your questions. You must use your wisdom to answer mine." ] * Tia shakes her head. "I never looked," she confesses. A man goes in search of the Proof of Beer. I'd say he finds beer at a tavern." * Patrick laughs. Either that or he finds an empty beerstein. [ The kobold produces a tiny pipe from the folds of his cane and smacks Vall on the head with it, producing a hollow sound. "That is not the correct answer. You may not proceed." ] (Darr, just when I happen to know the number OOC. x_X) Ooops. ^^; * Tia looks alarmed. "We...failed?" No, only I did. We're okay. Sorry, Vall. [ "No, just him. You haven't given a stupid answer yet." He puffs on the pope a few times. ] But we still have to answer the question... (the POPE!) (Hey, what'd the pope ever do to him?) * Patrick snickers. (*snerks*) (Best typo ever. ^_^) (XDDD) (....) * Seylin sighs. "But I don't know the alcohol content of beer. I don't drink!" ( ...the pipe. ;P ) * Ariake thinks. "I should remember it." [ "'S your problem, not mine." ] Um, um... I'm thinking it's somewhere around 8? If you're looking for a number... Twelve? Beer isn't that alcohol-intensive, unless its mushroom beer. I drink, but all I know is beer is lighter than hard liquor. Don't have a head for numbers... * Tia has wandered off toward the bridge and is amusing herself by watching the water rush down the chasm. * Seylin fidgets and taps her chin with a finger. Perhaps we're taking this too literally. This is a riddle, after all, not just a pun. Look! A fish! * Tia grins. Okay, we know he doesn't find a tavern or an empty beerstein... * Seylin sighs. "Beer, beer... it's made from grain. It's fermented... what else is there?" Hops. Water. 's about it... That and barley (sp). Wheat. Barley. Hops. Water. * Will walks around and takes a look at the monastery. Heated over a fire, stirred and distilled... * Tia continues to wag her tail as she watches the fish in the stream with fascination. (Seylin's IC knowledge about alchohol is equivalent to my OOC knowledge. ;p) (Good move.) (*same* :/ ) (Any of your chars smart? ^^ I could tell you the proof of beer.) (Yup. ^_^) (And I found it, but I still think we're being too literal. :P) * Will returns. "Well, this is a place of worship. Might he have found a God?" (My character's very smart, but I still don't think she'd know it IC. ;p) (I'll give it a try, shall I? ^_^) 1d20+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ariake (1d20+7) and gets 15. (Should I try as well?) [ Vall begins to think the proof of Alcohol is 8 ounces. ] [ Ariake gets the number! Whoever knows it OOC can tell him. ] (It's anywhere from 6 to 12.) (I know it OOC. :P) "That can't be right... 8 ounces can't be right.” < Yeah, it's right. * Ariake snaps her fingers. "I do believe anywhere between four and six percent, up to twelve for very strong brews." (Woo, never seen one as high as 12.) (So now you'll have to look? ^_~) (Never had mushroom beer, then) [ "Congratulations," says the Kobold, "You've answered the wrong riddle." He jumps up and bops Ariake on the head with his pipe. ] (Hahahaha. Is that a real beer?) * Ariake sighs. "I suspected as much." Too literal. * Patrick shrugs. "He got drunk." * Tia is running laps around the clearing. * Seylin sighs again. "Darn it." But that's not it... Hrmmm... "Hey, Tia!" *casts Glitterdust on an area* Huh? * Tia laughs gleefully at the glitter and runs over to investigate. [ The area is filled with SHINIES! ] * Tia frolics in the SHINIES! * Patrick smiles. [ The two kobold monks sweatdrop. ] * Seylin giggles. "Neat!" All too easy. Simple spell, eh? Kinda-sorta, but useful, in its own way This is maybe the first time in my entire life that I wish I drank. It's sad! Yeah, tell me about it. * Tia is now occupied with trying to catch shiny bits out of the air. God I wish I had a bottle of beer on me. He goes to find the proof of beer... eight ounces can't be right... a tavern and empty beerstein aren't it either... * Seylin sighs. "I just don't know! Do beer bottles get labeled?" [ Tia gradually covers herself in glitter. ] I do believe the answer of "He finds a beer" is appropriate. * Patrick scratches his head and smiles. * Tia giggles. "Look, guys, look! I'm shiny!" * Vall looks over, and snickers to himself. * Seylin looks over at Tia and giggles as well. "Yep, you sure are!" * Ariake grins. "So it would seem." * Will pets Tia. "Very pretty, Tia" * Vall turns to the monk. "He finds a beer." (Hey, now, no molesting the dracotaur. ;P) Very nice Tia. ^_^ ( I wouldn't dream of molesting a creature w/ four times my size ;) * Tia is very pleased. (btw, the glitter lasts 4 rounds... forget what that comes to in "realtime") ( About a minute. ) [ Before long, the glitter fades. Which is good, 'cause otherwise Tia would be washing it out of her hair for days. ] * Tia blinks. "Aw, where did the shinies go?" The spell ended, Tia. Aw... Do it again! * Ariake grins. * Tia prances. [ The two kobolds look at each other. "This is sad." "It is indeed." ] (okay, I just realized, I need a suitably elven name for my hawk familiar) * Seylin flies over to Patrick. "So, do you have *any* idea how to answer this riddle? 'Cause I sure don't." (POOFLEMUFFIN!) (Our moves are lame! ;_;) Nope. (But, but it's fun to be lame! :) ) (Z would know. ^_~) * Seylin sighs. "This is silly." I've exhausted my options. Unless they're just ignoring me after I failed. Someone else say 'he finds a beer'. * Tia pads over and sits down next to one of the kobolds. "Hi!" So the answer is not "Beer" nor "God?" [ "Hello, distressingly oversized one. Please tell me you know the answer to the riddle." ] * Tia thumps her tail against the ground. "Wish I did!" "Well, it could be a toilet... but not everyone throws up upon imbibing." * Will mumbles "Proof of Beer..Beer of Proof..of Beer..." (Yu're evil. >_>) * Tia grins at the kobold. [ The kobolds sigh. "We wish you knew, too." And then a light breaks through the clouds from above and shines on Tia! A good omen! ] * Patrick think-think-thinks. Well... * Seylin thinks, too. But it's not doing her much good, apparently. * Vall sits and thinks... ( another Int check) 1d20+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Vall (1d20+2) and gets 21. * Will stares at monestary drawings. "A dragon drinking?" * Tia thinks. "Well, maybe it's twice the percent by the amount of alcohol in the beer?" she asks hopefully. Maybe we should get some beer for Tia to drink and see what happens. That's what Eight is. Twentyfour tops? [ The kobolds nod at Tia's answer. "Good enough. Go on across." ] * Tia looks at the kobold blankly. "What?" * Ariake raises an eyebrow. "Nicely done!" "You answered it, Tia." [ "You're not going to ask them the other riddles?" "Hey, I don't have all day, here." ] Wow! I'm right! * Patrick shrugs. "Good enough for me." Yay! Go, Tia! * Seylin grins. * Will scratches his head at the answer and shrugs. "Good job Tia!" * Tia grabs the kobold next to her and wraps him in a bone-crushing hug. ( *crunch*? ) I'm right!!! [ "GHHHHH! can't.... breeethe..." ] Oh, sorry! * Tia quickly puts the kobold down. Hey, hey! Don't crush'em. :P * Tia gets to her feet and jumps up and down gleefully. * Seylin giggles. * Vall walks over to Tia. "Let's go see what the next test is, shall we?" * Tia nods. "Let's go!" She canters across the bridge. * Patrick follows Tia! [ The Kobold, manages to land on his feet. "Yes, well. I'm afraid to test your strength, frankly, but that's what's next. This way, please." Ke leads across the bridge. ]] Yay, finally! * Vall follows as well, unless he's stopped * Seylin takes to the air and follows Patrick and Tia. * Ariake shrugs, and follows. * Will follows Ariake. Something tells me Tia might win this for us. Ya think? * Tia is grinning from ear to ear. I'd nominate her! * Ariake nods. * Vall calls to his familiar, which alights on his shoulder * Will nods too. "Good thing Tia was with us" [ The Kobold walks up to a large boulder. "In ages past, the great Blauth the Blueish, a cloud dragon of great might, used this boulder to..." he looks at Tia's blueish, draconic body, and her mighty muscles of magnitude. "...nevermind. Next test, this way please." ] * Seylin giggles. "Go, Tia!" * Tia follows the kobold cheerfully. * Ariake grins. * Vall snickers. Intimidation factor greater than test. * Will grins. *to Kobold* "So what was the rest of the spiel?" * Patrick follows. ^_^ [ "Unimportant. Next, I must test one of you in honorable combat. This means no killing weapons." ] * Vall looks us over. Any monks in the party? * Tia is not a monk, surely. [ No, there are no monks in the party. You all have fists, however. ] I'll do it. * Seylin checks her weapons. All sharp and pointy! No good. * Tia hesitates because she is afraid to hurt the nice little kobolds. * Vall drops his bow, his sword, his club, and his quiver. [ The kobold leaps up and smacks Vall on the head with a little corcob pipe. "You've already failed one test, silly Elf." ] * Will looks at his skimpy arm and shakes his head. Doesn't mean I can't try and redeem myself with another, does it? [ "Yes, it does. So neener." ] Fark. * Tia giggles. Tia, be so kind to oblige the monk in his unarmed combat? * Tia blinks. "But..." * Vall picks up his weapons from where he dropped 'em. We're counting on you, Tia. I don't want to hurt him... Ya won't hurt'em. They might look tiny, but I bet they're just fine. [ "Awww. That's sweet of you, frighteningly large one. But you don't have to worry. I am trained to fight unarmed." ] You can always hold back a little! * Tia looks doubtful. "Well...okay." She steps forward tentatively. Doesn't seem as if he's too afraid of you Tia. I'm sorry I hugged you earlier, by the way! * Tia looks slightly sheepish. [ The Kobold hops into a little sand-filled circle, and gestures for Tia to stand on the other side. ] * Tia does as she is told. (Tia should get double extra credit for this.) ( popcorn, anyone? ) * Tia puts away her axe. (yes, that she should) What do I do now, Mr. Kobold? * Tia smiles a little. ("Come at me, come at me with that raspberry then, come on...") (well, we have everything else down, but when it comes to riddles, this group sucks. :) (Hehehehe) (Heh.) [ "Now... we fight." ] (Very true. ^_^) * Tia nods and bites her lip. * Tia takes a small step forward. Go, Tia! You can do it! ( Yay! First combat in game! ^_~) * Tia hesitates. d20+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yu-Mei (d20+8) and gets 25. d20+3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tia (d20+3) and gets 21. Take him down! * Vall sets mode: +o Dicesuke [ The Kobold hops towards Tia, and strikes! ] d20+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yu-Mei (d20+8) and gets 11. [ However, he hits a part of Tia that's well armored; her forehead. There's a solid THUNK and he bounces off. "Impressive, o gratuitously massive one." Tia's turn! ] Tail swipe, Tia! * Tia blinks, then takes an experimental swipe at the little kobold. (Finish him!) (Tia, use your tail attack!) d20+12 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tia (d20+12) and gets 24. *OW* That's gotta hurt! Go Tia!! [ Tia just barely misses! The Kobold takes an AoO, sine Tia lacks Improved Unarmed Attack. ] d20+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yu-Mei (d20+8) and gets 15. * Ariake nods. "You can do it!" [ Unfortunately, this one fails to hurt Tia as well. ] [ The kobold narrows his eyes. "You are strong, frightfully big one. But you cannot withstand my ultimate technique! KYAAAAAA!" And he leaps through the air, kicking at Tiamat, and then the episode ends.]
