What's up Kenji? ^_^ * Seylin walks into the room. "Hmm? Hi, Kenji!" * HKenji keeps walking towards the stairs up. "We need to talk." * Seylin blinks. "About what?" She falls in next to Kenji. * Patrick finds his way near Kenji and grins. About Tia. What else? * HKenji leads the way up onto the roof and takes a seat on the edge. * Patrick chuckles. "What about her?" * Seylin sits down, too. Obviously, she's not afraid of heights. ^_^ I need help. Because she's kinda devoting herself to you? Because she doesn't know what she's getting into. * Patrick, being the skillmonkey he is, has excellent balance up here. "Mmmm... Howso?" I am faced with a situation that has no exit that will not hurt Tia. Well, either you tell her that it's not such a good idea, or... well, how would the other way hurt her? Yeah, what's the other way? It is... difficult to explain. I am samurai. My life belongs to my clan. Further, I am... I suppose you would call a Count, or perhaps a Duke. Or rather, the second son of one. * Patrick grins. "So they're gonna want to marry you off, is that it?" Yeah. You'll have duties and... exactly. A samurai, ANY samurai, is expected to marry for the benefit of his family. Okay. So this could become a major problem in the future. Daaaamn, that sucks. Hmmm. Well... can I ask you a personal question, Kenji? You have been like family to me in this strange, place. You may ask anything. * Seylin smiles gratefully. "Thanks. Okay. How do you feel about her?" * HKenji blushes. This is the first time anybody has ever seen such a highly emotional reaction out of him. Ever. * Patrick nods and grins even wider, if that was possible. "I see." Aaaaah... for all her apparent immaturity, she has a certain charm about her. * Seylin looks thoughtful. "Well... I don't mean any offense by this at all, Kenji, so please don't take it this way, but it could just be a crush. Tia's attention span is kinda... ephemeral." That would seem to be the case, would it not? * Patrick nods. "Still, it'd hurt her when it's over." ^_^; And yet... faced with the puzzle box which she has opened only twice before, and no help at all, she remembered how to open it without a problem. So she thinks a lot about you. I see. The winter formal isn't for four months yet. She remembered it, and asked me to be her... date? She thinks a lot lot about you. A lot. Hmmm. And it'd be pretty hard to explain the whole thing about your family obligations to her. Yes. She will not understand, and will likely be hurt either way. So your stuck between a rock and a hard place. ^_^ [ Tia does make a good hard place, yes. ] Is that like being stuck between a Crab and an Oni? Are they two unpleasant and possibly difficult obstacles? Yes. Eh... If they're what they sound like, yes. Then, yes. If I do this thing, then later... it is said that there is no room in a samurai's heart for love. It distracts him from duty. Many and great are the tragedies centering around such matters. That's... sad, really. Everyone should have the chance to experience love. Very. I'd say ditch your family, but you wouldn't do that, would ya? (We all know how Patrick answered THAT question on the alignment test.) I think he'd die first, Patrick. Unthinkable. Would you kill your mother to be with Seylin? * Patrick hmms to himself, then smiles. "First of all, I know she can, and would, be brought back. Second of all, I wouldn't be able to kill her in the first place." (are you sure you want Patrick to answer that? :) My father cannot return. * Seylin gives Patrick a brief glance, then turns her attention back to Kenji. She sighs. "I don't want to see you hurt, Kenji, or get into trouble. Not like that." * HKenji sighs. It's not fair, though. I have no trouble with this. In the empire, it is understood by those who would pursue such a path. Tia chases without knowing what she may catch. Do you want me to talk to her about it? It would be a great help. * Seylin nods. "Okay. I can do that, at the very least." * Patrick smiles. "Well, if anyone can do it easily, Seylin can." ^_^ * Seylin half-smiles. "Well, I'm glad you've got such faith in me." * Tia pops her head in. "Hello?" * HKenji turns and smiles. "Good morning, Tia." Mornin', Kenji! * Seylin waves. "Hi, Tia!" Heya Tia. ^_^ * Tia hops onto the roof. She is again in human form and dressed in the same white gown. * Seylin notes this and hmms softly. * Tia waves. "Hiya, Sey, Pat!" She grins cheerfully and finds herself a seat on the wall by Kenji. What's everyone doing up here? [ Admiring the view. ] Breathing. ^_^ Oh, well, me too! * Tia grins. We do that a lot, yeah. * Seylin looks at Kenji and motions slightly at Tia, in a "Should I talk to her now?" sort of gesture. Or she hopes that's how he'll interpret it. * HKenji nods absently in Seylin's direction. * Tia sees Seylin's gesture and wonders. What kept you so long, Tia? * Tia shrugs and grins at him. "I was trying to figure out what I look like when I put on the ring." * Patrick chuckles. "You could always look in a mirror." * Tia looks thoughtful. "I tried...but somehow I couldn't see myself while the ring was working." Really now... * Tia then shrugs and grins again. "Oh, well!" * Patrick smiles. It's a pretty day... It is! Did you have any plans? * HKenji nods as he watches Tia. "Yes... a beautiful day." * Tia shakes her head. "Nope. Did you?" You wanna go for a walk? Okay! I like walks! * Tia grins again at Kenji and hops off the wall to join Seylin. * Seylin stands up. "Then let's go! I'll meet you on the front steps." Okay! * Patrick isn't there. * Tia moves as if to jump off the roof, but then she stops herself and giggles sheepishly. "Oh, almost forgot. No wings." ( Mischan, Patrick? ) That would be a... painful lesson. (Nope. He's already downstairs at the entrance. ^_^) * Seylin giggles. "Yeah, you'll have to take the stairs." ^_~ * Tia waves. "See ya, Kenji!" * HKenji waves. "Bye. ^_^" (It's been a while since he's done this.) ( Heh. ) * Tia rushes down the stairs. * Patrick yells up to the roof. "Hey, Seylin! You gonna keep them up there all day or what?" * Seylin smiles at Kenji. "I'll talk to you later." She then yells down to Patrick. "I'm coming!" She opens her wings and glides down. * Tia tries to beat Seylin to the bottom, but she doesn't manage to. She pants slightly as she reaches the front steps. Heehee! * Seylin lands gracefully and grins at Tia. Then she walks over to Patrick and whispers to him. Where are we walking? * Patrick whispers back. * HKenji looks at Patrick, and motions with his head a little. * Seylin whispers again. * Tia blinks, wondering what Seylin and Patrick are whispering about this time. * Patrick pats Seylin on the back and grins, walking back up to the top after speaking *very* closely to Sey's ear as he walks past. * Seylin smiles at Patrick as he leaves. Okay, Tia, I'm all ready! Did you have a place in mind? Nope! Did you? * HKenji follows Patrick back up. Hmm... well, there's the woods again, or we could head out to the meadow... I like trees! Wait, but I like butterflies too... * HKenji stands up on the edge of the roof, just watching. Well, let's go to the meadow, since it's been a while. Okay! * Seylin starts heading that way. * Tia follows along, humming cheerfully to herself. * Seylin waits until they've gotten a bit away from buildings and people and the like, then says, "Soooooo... you've been hanging out with Kenji a lot lately." * Tia nods. Yup! * Tia grins widely. And you really like spending time with him, huh? * Tia nods emphatically. "Yup!" How do you feel about him? * Tia blushes slightly. "Well--" * Seylin smiles warmly. "Well?" * Tia bashfully kicks the dirt path a little. "I like Kenji a lot." [ As Tia is in human-mode, the dirt path does not take damage from this. ] * Seylin thinks for a minute. "Well, how do you think he feels about you?" * Tia glances at Seylin. "I-- Well, he told me he liked me too," she says quietly. And you're already all excited about the Winter Formal. * Tia nods. "Aren't you?" [ I am! ] * Tia grins and looks gleeful. * Seylin smiles. "Yeah, I am." You're going with Patrick, right? * Seylin laughs. "Sure am!" Yay! What about Ist and Ari? * Seylin blinks, officially sidetracked. "Istvan and Ari? Together?" * Tia didn't realized she sounded like she was suggesting it, but she mulls it over and brightens. "That would be fun!" * Seylin giggles. "What about Will? He'd need someone, too." Oh, yeah. * Tia thinks. I think I saw a pretty cleric girl the other day. Really? Know what house she's in? * Tia thinks hard. "I think she was in...hm. She's not a Stonefister." She's not the house Kenji hates, either. Nah, you don't usually get clerics in either of those. Hmm. Red Lightning, maybe? Yeah! That's the one! Ooh, we'll have to check that out! * Tia nods. :D We've got plenty of time for that, though. Speaking of time... Time? What about time? * Seylin nods. "Time. If you were really happy with someone, but you knew it couldn't last forever... maybe not even last all that long, would you still want to be with that person while you could anyway?" * Tia looks puzzled. "What do you mean?" Well... say you have a friend, and you like spending time with them, and you're happy, but you know that someday they're going to have to go home, and you can't go with them, so you'll have to say goodbye. Would you want to spend as much time with them as you could? * Tia gasps. "Is Patrick going away?" * Seylin shakes her head. "No, no. But who do we know who came from somewhere far away?" * Tia thinks for a moment. "Um...." Vall was...but he's gone. Yes. Who else? Um....not me. Are you? I was born far away, but my family's here. So it's not me, no. Is it Patrick? No, he's from here. Oh. Will? I don't know where Will's from. I don't know, either, but he's not the one I'm talking about. And Istvan and Ari aren't, either. * Tia counts off on her fingers for awhile, then glances back at Seylin. "...Kenji?" * Seylin nods. What? But...he's not going away. Not for a long while, I think. But he might, someday. He might have to go back to his home and his family. * Tia looks adamant. "No. Kenji's staying here!" * Seylin looks sad, and gives Tia's arm a comforting squeeze. "But his family might need him. Family's very important in his land. He might not have a choice." * Tia shakes her head forcefully. "No!" Tia... * Tia stops walking and hangs her head. "I don't want him to go home." I know you don't. I don't want him to, either. He's a good friend, and I'd miss him terribly. But... it's a possibility. I won't let him go home. * Tia looks up at Seylin pleadingly. We won't let him go home, right? * Seylin sighs. "Tia... have you ever heard the saying about if you really care about someone, you'll let them go, and trust that they'll find their way back to you if it's meant to be?" * Tia shakes her head. Part of caring about someone is trusting them. I trust Kenji... Even if it means letting him go? * Tia pauses. "What if I go home with him?" Her expression brightens into a smile suddenly. "I could do that, right?" I don't know about that... I wouldn't be any trouble! I could find my own food...and sleep outside! Things are different there, Tia. That might not work. ...What do you mean? Well, they have different rules and customs and things like that. Oh...well, I know they don't hold hands like you and Patrick. Right. But there are lots of other things, too, I think. I don't know most of them. * Tia nods. "I'll ask Kenji!" But, Tia? Hmm? If you can't spend forever with Kenji, will you still be happy spending time with him now? * Tia fidgets. I want to be happy forever. So do I. * Seylin looks down for a second. * Tia smiles at Seylin. "It's okay. Everything will be fine!" Yeah? * Tia nods assuredly. "It always is..." Well, if you keep thinking that way, then I'll bet things will turn out. * Seylin does not add, "I hope so, anyway." * Tia grins. * Seylin isn't entirely sure that this turned out the way it was supposed to, but she figures she's at least gotten Tia to think about it. Maybe. Hopefully. So, um... anything else you wanted to talk about? * Tia snaps out of a daze. "Huh? Oh, not really." She still looks a little doubtful despite her earlier grin. I should talk to Kenji. Okay. Just... keep what I said in mind, all right? * Tia nods solemnly. * Seylin smiles. "Good." * Tia turns and stares back up toward the Flying Couches house, looking for Kenji in the distance. * HKenji is still standing on the rooftop, staring in Tia's general direction. * Tia waves, but she smiles only slightly. * HKenji does not wave back. Maybe he isn't looking. * Tia sighs and stares at her feet. * Seylin lets out an almost imperceptible sigh. Let's go home. Okay. * Patrick isn't on the roof. Wonder why. [ Session End! ]
