Reflecting on Mass Effect on Shepard Day – a personal retrospective.

If you read my blog at all or know me in almost any context, you know I really love Mass Effect. I’m a total Mass Effect nerd. I had the Normandy on my wedding cake and everything. After watching BioWare’s Mass Effect Retrospective video from PAX East, and reading some of Kotaku’s Mass Effect Week articles recently, I got to thinking about how I got roped into this obsession in the first place. Warning: Mild Mass Effect 1-3 spoilers within.

On Mass Effect 3: Omega and (mostly) Citadel DLC.

Citadel reaffirmed all the reasons I still love Mass Effect as a whole. Warning: May contain Mass Effect 3, Omega DLC, and Citadel DLC spoilers.

This month’s creations.

My first attempt at ceramics painting. (I didn’t make the plate; I just painted it.) And, matching The Walking Dead (game) pumpkins. I did Clementine, and my most excellent spouse did the title text one. We just finished Episode 4 over the weekend, right before carving these, and loved it. Can’t wait […]

Onward to Diablo III, but still dreaming of Mass Effect.

Some of you may know that, besides all the other pies I’ve got my fingers in, I also write game reviews for Game Chronicles Magazine in my off hours. My kindly editor-in-chief decided to assign me and a friend Diablo III to review, so I’ve been having fun with that. I’m saving up my comments for the review, so I won’t be posting them here. I’d usually start with a melee class, but I’m going wizard this time!

(Mass Effect ending discussion (with spoilers) after the jump.)

On second thought…

Upon further reflection, I’m now convinced that BioWare is brilliant and probably planned all of this Mass Effect 3 mayhem.

Musings on the Mass Effect 3 ending.

I finally finished the game last night and chewed on my ending for a few hours. I haven’t read anyone else’s comments on the ending yet – I wanted to jot down my own thoughts before I do that – so forgive me if I’m beating a dead horse. I wanted to write out my thoughts and feelings on this game, whether anyone reads them or not.

WARNING: this post contains spoilers for Mass Effect 3. Continue at your own discretion.

Yep, still haven’t finished ME3.

That’s right. It’s been a month since release, and where most people raced to the end and finished in two days, I’m still dragging my heels.

Clearly, a big part of that’s because of my limited free time, but I admit I’m also sort of dreading the end, since I’ve heard so many things (spoiler-free things, that is) that make me a bit reluctant. I’ve been hovering right before the final mission for a while now, biding my time and playing multiplayer (which is stellar, by the way), even though I’m sure I’ve found every War Asset in the game and should be good to go.

I’ve got my guesses on what’s going to happen, just purely based on what I know of the series and what might cause such a dramatic fuss among fans.

(Mild spoilers ahead.)
